My Story: From Black & White Film to "I Do"
My journey as a photographer began unexpectedly in college. I was an advertising major in my final semester, just needing one more class to graduate. I chose "Black and White Film Photography," an easy course for a few quick credits. Little did I know, that one class would change the entire direction of my life.
In hindsight, I can see now that in life, as in photography, the most powerful moments aren’t created, they’re revealed.
My first full-time photography job was as a documentary photographer for the Department of Agriculture. I traveled across the island, documenting the stories of coffee farmers, beekeepers, and tomato pickers. I fell in love with capturing the heart and soul of people giving their all to their craft.
Later, I became a photography teacher and developed a fascination with the art of fashion photography, specifically, how to push the limits of using light.
This led me to a new career as an editorial and commercial photographer, a role I held for 12 years. I had the privilege of working with major local publishing companies in Puerto Rico, and it was a dream job. (You can see some of my work here: @jaimefotopro).
That's why the term "editorial" is so important to me. For many, it's just a marketing buzzword, but for me, it's the foundation of my entire style. My eye for storytelling was honed by years of capturing authentic moments for magazines, not just styled poses.
My passion for this kind of storytelling eventually led me to weddings. I started with a successful partnership, but I eventually wanted to create something that was entirely my own, my creative vision, without compromise. That’s why I started Brides by Jaime.
My goal is to capture your wedding with that same editorial polish, but always grounded in real emotion. I focus on the moments you feel: the nervous glances, the laughter, the quiet tears. I believe the most powerful images come from a place of authenticity, when you've forgotten the camera is even there.

On your wedding day, I want you to feel free to just be yourselves, no pressure, no pretending. You deserve to be fully present, to soak in every moment, and to feel all of it. I’ll be there quietly, paying attention to the light, the energy, the in-between moments that often go unnoticed. I won’t ask you to perform. I’ll simply document the day as it naturally unfolds, with care and honesty. You don’t have to worry about the photos. You can focus on each other. I’ll take care of the rest.
